On my drive in to work this morning I hooked my iPhone up to the car and was listening to random music that was coming on when Jason Aldean's song "Amarillo Sky" came on the radio. Last summer when it was so dry around these parts (2 summers in a row, am I beginning to live in the desert?) a lot of local churches spread the message about if everyone would pray for rain, maybe it would.
So the lyrics came across:
He just takes the tractor another roundand this part
And pulls the plow across the ground
And sends up another prayer
He says Lord I never complain I never ask why
But please don't let my dream run dry
Just like his dad and grandad did before himAnd it got me to thinking, you
On his knees every night he prays
Please let my crops and children grow
Cause that's all he's ever known
I dunno, just something I thought about. Just something to ponder. Just a deep thought on a Wednesday morning drive to work. Oh, and I heard there's an old folk tale that says if you marry frogs together, that it'll rain. Supposedly someone up in Northern Missouri did that and it rained the next day. Something to keep in mind....
And while I go try to find some frogs to marry, here's that lovely Jason Aldean song. Here froggy froggy :)

Love that song! Well said my friend.
I know there's a lot of people around here praying for rain...we got some Sunday night/Monday morning, but not enough to help. It's been soooo dry for a long time. I love the heat, and I love the sun...but for the farmers' sake, I'll pray for more rain.
PS - I heart Jason Aldean. ;)
Yes- and that is what is wrong with a lot of the world. Life is too easy for a lot of people so it is easy to forget everyday how dependent we really are. Nothing to keep people humble and remembering the truth.
Praying for rain for you all
I have been hearing that 50's reference a lot.
Good luck finding frogs! I'm pretty sure the frogs here are dead! ;)
We complain about our grass turning brown - while there are people whose lives depend on the rain for their livelihood. It's insane.
P.S. Thanks for the award :)
We are in Central Missouri and it is DRY here. Our pastures are dead. Without significant rain very soon, we will have to consider reducing our cow herd because we don't have enough hay to feed them through the winter. Lots of prayers for rain going up under our little corner of that Amarillo sky! Thanks for spreading the word!
Great song!
I keep praying for rain, too.
Have a blessed evening. ♥
I am so in love with that song!
You know, I never really realized how every cowboy/farmer I've ever known or met has believed in God. Interesting!
Hope you find the perfect frogs to marry ;)
That is quite a thought to ponder...I guess farmers are so in-tune with nature, grace, and faith in general. I do love that song ;)
